So have you ever wondered what the apex of
the tooth is? Have you heard your dentist say that and you’re just don’t quite understand?
Well my name is Michelle and I’m a dental assistant with Solutionz and I’m here to explain
to you the apex of the tooth. Basically the apex is the nerve ending of the tooth where
the root is formed, as you can see from this picture here, you have the crown of the tooth,
the dentin, which is the core of your tooth, which is this yellowish looking material.
And then you have the nerve canal which is this red color here. It goes all the way down
to the end of the root and basically this is what we clinically call as the apex of
your tooth. This is where your nerve enters in, flows through up and over down to the
other side of the root and it comes out and then follows through with your nerves and
your bone or in your upper jaw or lower jaw. So basically the apex of the tooth is the
end of your root is another form of saying it. Its basically the bottom section of your
root where your nerve enters and exits out of the tooth. Once again my name’s Michelle
and I’m a dental assistant with Solutionz and hopefully I just helped you understand
what an apex of a tooth is.
