Is Home Sleep Test as Accurate as In-Clinic Sleep Study? – Sleep Apnea Thousand Oaks – Malibu

In patients with a high pre-test probability
of having obstructive sleep apnea and the absence of other medical disorders that can
mimic sleep apnea, home sleep tests have been found to reliably diagnose OSA. However, since the
equipment is applied by the patient without the benefit of a qualified sleep technician
to assure proper setup, there is a significant possibility that the test results may not
be adequate for diagnosis. Tests often must be repeated due to poor signal quality. In
addition, most home sleep tests only monitor breathing, oxygen levels, and heart rate. There
is no monitoring of sleep stages or muscle activity. Hello. I’m Doctor Ronald Popper, thanks for
